2010 California Valley Cross Country Race

The Event was held on Sept 18-19 in California Valley with nine teams competing and all staying at the world famous California Valley Lodge (Thanks Ken). Teams arrived on Friday and had a great time socializing and eating loads of good food.

Saturday started with a pilots meeting at 9:00 AM and winches open right afterwards. Day one was a 52 miles long speed task using turn points A, I, G, C, B, A, with only two teams completing the task and team Flying Tigers (ID 273) coming up 400ft short. Team Pohode (ID 461) came in 1st followed by Team Broken Aero (ID 424) in 2nd and Team Flying Tigers (ID 273) in 3rd. All in all, it was a great day of soaring followed by a great night of food and drink.

Day 2 started with a pilots meeting at 9:00 AM and flying right thereafter. Team Atomic Fireball (ID 460) was first to leave around 11:30 with others to follow. The task was another speed run using turn points A, B, C, G, A, about 18 miles long. Flying Tigers (ID 273) came in 1st, followed by team Pohode (ID 461) in 2nd, and Broken Aero (ID 424) in 3rd.

Overall, Team Pohode (ID 461) scored 1802 points, Flying Tigers (ID 273) 1702, Broken Aero (ID 424) 1530; see the posted scores for other team scores. A great 2-day event and the last of 2010. I cannot wait 'till 2011, when even more will be in store! Start getting ready now, and we will see you then.
